Christmas Fairs Galore!

There are so many things to see and experience here in Catalonia every Christmas. One thing to enjoy is the abundance of Christmas fairs! The most wonderful is “La Fira de Santa Llúcia,” situated in front of the Cathedral in Barcelona’s Barri Gotic district, which has been running since 1786, which sells everything you could want to decorate your home and nativity table at this time. Or there is the Fira de Nadal at the Sagrada Familia which has similar goods with an equally stunning backdrop! Over the weekend of the 6th of December you can be transported back to medieval times at the medieval market in Vic or its  smaller version in Castelldefels. These fairs have arts, craft displays, artisan products, even medieval re-enactment and archery tournaments.  There is also the pine scented “Fira de l’Avet” Christmas tree market in Espinelves, Girona which runs between the 6th and 14th of December or the tasty Truffle fair in Centelles on the 20th and 21st of December. There are poultry fairs in VilaFranca and El Prat de Llobregat and you can even grab yourself some ski gear at the Fair of Pirineo o deporte y naturaleza in Bellver de Cerdanya. Seriously, there are fairs and fairs galore!
